Ethics, Gandhiji and corporates......

Will it affect there Long-Term memory?

He has spelled the magic again….

He is back, this time not with "Jadoo ki Jhappi" but with "Gandhigiri". Munna Bhai bole to kamal kar diya. Apun ko sab yaad aa gaya.

When I was a child, my grandfather used to teach me about the achievements of the great man "the bapu of India", Mr. Mohan Das Karam Chand Gandhi.
The teachings were supposedly in my Long-Term memory.
The movie by .….has retrieved all my information related to bapu of India. Fortunately, the information in my Long-Term Memory was not lost but faded otherwise I would have been in the same league with "them".
As you will read the article, you will soon come to know that whom am I referring to as “them".

We see Gandhi Ji’s images in Government Offices, Schools or at Museums but never in Corporate Offices.

Why is this happening?
Is it because we don’t teach Gandhism in our management schools or is it because we don’t follow ethics in our Businesses.

Most of us would agree that Gandhi Ji is synonym to truth, honesty and ethics.
We have Gandhi ji’s image printed on most important element of every business, "Indian currency notes".
But even in Government offices, people are not concerned about the photo that is framed in glass with dust on it.

We pay homage to him on 2nd October, but why we forget him on rest 364 days of a year??
Well of course we know the reason of holiday on 2nd October every year, on the day we remember him, but only while asking our colleagues that-why the banks are closed tomorrow?

This might look similar to everyday issue in editorial of any English daily but is it really so? No it is not.

Have you seen image of Bapu in any corporate office.
I know majority of you will answer "No". Can I ask why? The bigger pie will say " Don’t Know why".

We have forgotten him because our Long-Term memory doesn’t recall Bapu. Why? The principle of memory applies here, which says, we tend forget things that we don’t see or recall for long time. Thanks to Indian government which has taken careby printing his image on “currency notes”, that we don’t forget Gandhiji.

Ethics are important in every business. This might act little selfish for Corporates but sticking images of great man will reflect ethics and honesty followed by their business. Hey! Corporates, you might opt for this as a part of your strategy for well being and growth of your businesses.

Not only this but he also teaches us to be calm and cool in tensed situations (because there is no "circuit- played by Arshad Warsi" in our lives to tell us "tension mat le yaar").

Lage raho Munna bhai is a successful attempt by *................. to recall all data about him stored in our Long-Term Memory. "Bole to apne dimag mein chemical locha ho rahela re".

Other directors should take some learning from him and should make movies on great leaders such as, Pandit Jawar lal Nehru, Netaji SubhashChandra Bose........... the list is endless.

Hats off ! to you Mr *...................

* I am referring to Director of the movie - Rajkumar Hirani .
